Intrepid Journeys - Sikkim and Darjeeling (Temepara Bailey)

Silver Ferns star Temepara Bailey (née George) travels to the Indian Himalayas with Intrepid Journeys for her very first overseas holiday. Horse riding, Sikkimese dancing, witch doctor healing — and watching the sunrise —are all new experiences Bailey takes on as she wanders through the northern Indian states of Sikkim and Darjeeling. The hustle and bustle of markets reminds her of netball because "you get barged and pushed everywhere". It's in the quiet of the countryside where Bailey feels happiest, from the friendly locals to experiencing Buddhist and Hindu traditions.

Usually when I'm travelling with the team [the Silver Ferns], I don't have to worry about catching a taxi, or getting my bag. We usually have a manager that looks after all that kind of stuff. So this is all about me and how I'm going to survive by myself, without my team there to help me.

Intrepid Journeys is a New Zealand television series, which was broadcast on TV ONE in New Zealand and on Vibrant TV Network in the United States. Created by Melanie Rakena of boutique production company Jam TV.[1][2]

A multi-award-winning travel series, it is not a “Survivor” style manufactured “challenge” show. It is about meeting real challenges in the real world, travelling to lesser-known places and then getting around the way locals do… by foot, bus and camel.

Across each hour-long episode, Intrepid Journeys follows a celebrity traveller for

But understandably, it’s an acronym that sits uncomfortably with the former Silver Ferns captain. The question remains though – is she?

Is the team’s most capped player in fact their greatest? Or would she even make the face of the Mt Rushmore of Silver Ferns?

Alex Chapman spoke to some of the country’s sharpest netball minds to discuss GOATs in black dresses.

Jenny Woods: the voice of netball, commentator for Sky Sport.

Rikki Swannell: netball commentator and journalist.

Dana Johannsen: former netball reporter, now Stuff’s national correspondent in sport.

Suzanne McFadden: longtime sports journalist and editor of LockerRoom.

(Both Swannell and Johannsen emphasised they hadn’t seen as many play as their two colleagues).

Here are their four picks each for the greatest Silver Ferns of all time:

JW: She was a match-winner and had longevity. I can’t remember her ever being injured or recall there being a time where she left the court or wasn’t available through injuries. Time and time again, when peopl
