Maggie Gallagher
Maggie Gallagher is the president of the Washington DC-based Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, editor of MarriageDebate.com, a syndicated columnist, author, and frequent television commentator. She also serves as president of the National Organization for Marriage. [1] Her articles on marriage policy have appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Weekly Standard. Margaret Gallagher is an Irish[2] freelance researcher and writer specialising in gender and media. She has carried out research, development and evaluation projects for the United Nations Statistics Division, UNIFEM, UNESCO, the International Labour Office, the Council of Europe, the European Commission and the European Audiovisual Observatory.[3]
Gallagher sits on the editorial boards of International Communication Gazette,[4]Feminist Media Studies and,[5]Communication for Development and Social Change.[6]
Education
Gallagher gained a M.Sc. in education from the University of Dayton in 1972,[7] and her Ed.D. in 1978 from Western Michigan University.[8]
Career
Gallagher began her career, in the 1970s, researching the use of technology in education,[9] eventually becoming deputy head of the Audiovisual Media Research Group at the Open University.[10]

Margaret Gallagher (born September 14, 1960) is an American writer, socially conservativecommentator, and activist. She wrote a syndicated column for Universal Press Syndicate from 1995 to 2013[1] and has written several books. Gallagher founded the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy, a small, socially conservative think tank.[2] She is also a co-founder of the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), an advocacy group which opposes same-sex marriage and other legal recognition of same-sex partnerships;[3] she has served as president and as chairman of the board of NOM.[2]
