Detective Inspector Jacqueline "Jackie" Reid (Blythe Duff) is now the longest serving member of the team. Reid made her first appearance in 1990, as a Woman Police Constable in Death Comes Softly, the only time she is seen in uniform.
In 1994, Jackie was promoted to Detective Sergeant much to the dismay of Jim Taggart. It the episode Crossing The Line, she revealed she is from Garsden. In The Ends of Justice, she was promoted to Detective Inspector with Jackie feeling she was finally ready.
She was trained in self-defence, which is why she defended herself both times when she faced deadly confrontations with two killers. In Penthouse and Pavement in 2003, she caught the person that killed Jason Randall and Debbie Thompson and the killer tried to attack her, but she banged his face against the shutters of a shop repeatedly, leaving him with a bloody nose. Biography
Jac Reed is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology and Forensic Studies. Prior to academia, Jac was a Former Forensic Scene Investigator with West Midlands Police and has considerable experience in the application of forensic investigation. Whilst Jac teaches across courses on the core curriculum, she specialises in Wildlife Crime and IWT forensics, Crime Science, and Environmental Justice. Jac’s doctorate focuses on the interface between Higher Education and the role of social sciences to conservation education and training.
Jac has delivered training in-country to wildlife crime rangers in Benin, Africa, with ZSL and is currently delivering courses on the Wildlife Crime Leadership Initiative, a training programme that builds leadership abilities among enforcement officers to better counter wildlife trafficking, led by the Wildlife Conservation Society. Additionally, Jac is a Hydra designer and facilitator and works closely with the Hydra Foundation developing and delivering immersive learning education and training for students at the School of Criminolog

Blythe Duff (born 25 November 1962) is a Scottish actress best known for her role as Jackie Reid in the ITVtelevision series drama, Taggart.
Background
Duff was born and raised in East Kilbride.[1] Her love of acting started with youth theatre. On leaving Hunter High School she joined The Company, a youth opportunities theatre company, based at the Glasgow Arts Centre in Washington Street and spent her summers with the Scottish Youth Theatre. She entered the profession in 1983 with her first job at the Young Playwrights Festival (Scottish Youth Theatre/The Traverse).
