Former stuntman/stunt coordinator/actor David Leitch transitioned to directing in 2014 with an uncredited co-directing credit on the action hit, John Wick (2014), with Keanu Reeves, Michael Nyqvist, Bridget Moynihan, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, and Willem Dafoe. It $86 worldwide gross set up sequels, John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) and Chapter 3--Parabellum (2019), for which Leitch served as executive producer.

The success of the John Wick franchise set up Leitch for major directing assignments in his specialized genre, action movies, starting with Atomic Blonde (2017), which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, starring Charlize Theron, James McAvoy, John Goodman, Eddie Marsan, and Toby Jones. Earning an estimated $100 million gross worldwide, the film launched Leitch’s plans for a sequel starring Theron as well as a John Wick-Atomic Blonde crossover film, both of which are in development.

David R. Leitch (born August 22, 1948) was an American politician who served as a member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 73rd district from 1989 to 2017. He was also a member of the Illinois Senate in 1986 and 1987.

Early life and education

Leitch was born in Three Rivers, Michigan. He graduated from Kalamazoo College.[1]

Career

Prior to entering politics, Leitch worked in the baking industry.

On January 31, 1986, Leitch was appointed to the Illinois Senate to succeed the late Prescott E. Bloom. As Bloom was the only candidate to file for the 1986 Republican primary, Leitch and Carl Hawkinson both ran in the primary as write-in candidates.[2] Hawkinson, a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, defeated Leitch by a large margin.[3]

In 1988, Fred J. Tuerk chose to retire from the Illinois House of Representatives. Leitch won the 1988 general election for the open seat.[1] On Octob

David Leitch’s passion for martial arts came at a young age, staying up late Saturday nights religiously watching KUNG FU THEATER. Having no martial arts schools in Kohler, Wisconsin, David fed his obsession with books and magazines on the subject. Training himself in the garage in-between sports seasons, and then finally finding classes at the prestigious Dan Inosanto academy while studying at the University of Minnesota.

David rose through the ranks of martial arts quickly, competing at a high level in several styles and disciplines.  With a degree in International Relations and Education, David chose to take a teaching job and open a martial arts school right out of college.

On the martial arts circuit, he met Chad Stahelski, who was living in LA, starting his career as a stuntman.   It wasn’t long before David found himself pursuing a stunt career as well.
