David Montgomery United States, b. 1937

David Montgomery is a celebrated, award-winning, international photographer. Heralded by Q Magazine in their special edition on psychedelia as having produced some of the most iconic images of the sixties, he is internationally renowned as one of the most legendary photographers of all time. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he attended photography courses run by Alexi Brodevitch and worked for the award-winning photographer Lester Bookbinder for four years, following Bookbinder to England in the early 1960s. David fell in love with the soft, romantic English light and took up residence in London, where he continues to live with his family.
  
David has contributed regularly to Vogue, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Rolling Stone, and House & Garden. Past sitters have included: Queen Elizabeth II, Margaret Thatcher, Bill Clinton, Pierre Trudeau, and David Hockney, to name a few. David Craig Montgomery (March 21, 1870 – April 20, 1917) was an American actor and dancer, the partner of Fred Stone. Montgomery and Stone became famous for their performance in the 1903 Broadway musical The Wizard of Oz, and had many other successes in musical comedy and vaudeville.

Early years

David Craig Montgomery was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on March 21, 1870. In March 1887 he was given a juvenile role in Smokey Moke at a local variety beer hall called Streakbiner's Garden. He had been thinking of getting work with a railway, but now decided to go on the stage, and practiced a routine in his back yard. He learned to become a dancer and contortionist.
