Jim DeFede
Jim DeFede is an investigative reporter for CBS News Miami and host of of its Sunday morning public affairs program "Facing South Florida."
He has covered Florida politics since 1991, including every governor's race in the state since 1994, as well as the 2016 presidential campaigns of Donald Trump, Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio.
DeFede has reported, written and produced more than a dozen documentaries, including "The Everglades: Where Politics, Money and Race Collide," a one-hour film exploring the 2016 environmental disaster in Florida caused by toxic blue-green algae in Lake Okeechobee; "The Homestead Letters" exploring the reaction of local school kids who learn they were living next to a migrant detention camp housing children separated from their parents at the border by the Trump Administration; "The Secret World of Greyhound Training"; and three hour-long specials on the Surfside building collapse that killed 98 people: "Bonded By Tragedy: 30 Days in Surfside," "Surviving Surfside: Deven's Story," and "Surviving Surfside: Year One."

Jim DeFede Biography
Jim DeFede is an American reporter working with CBS4 News at WFOR-TV in Miami as an investigative reporter and host of Facing South Florida on Sunday mornings. He has been working at the station for 16 years since 2006 and is also the author of the book The Day The World Came To Town: 9/11.

Jim DeFede Career
DeFede started his career in 1986, as a reporter in Spokane, Washington at the Spokesman-Review. After working there for 5 years, he became a staff writer for Miami New Times and spent the following 11 years settling down in Florida. During this time of the publication, DeFede earned various awards for his investigative work. In 2002, he changed his career and became a columnist for Miami Herald Metro. There, he worked for the publication for 3 years and left it in 2005.
