OMAR GALLIANI

Omar Galliani was born in 1954 in Montecchio Emilia. He is a leading exponent of the group of the Anachronists, supported by Maurizio Calvesi - who refer to a typically Italian humanistic culture, reformulate and contaminate iconographies and classical subjects and which cover ancient myths typical of the contemporary - and of the critic's primary Magic movement Flavio Caroli. From the eighties onwards Galliani was invited to various editions of the Venice Biennale, to the Biennial of São Paulo, to the Beijing Biennale, in which he won the first prize in 2003. Following numerous first national and then international exhibitions recognition in contemporary art museums in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Kyoto, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, Miami and Los Angeles. Omar Galliani (born 1954) is an Italian painter and a retired professor from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera (Brera Academy) in Milan.

Life and career

Omar Galliani graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna in Bologna.[1] He taught as full professor of painting at the Brera Academy until he retired.[2]

In 1979, invited by Luciano Francalanci for the Italy section, he received the "Faber Castell Prize" at the first International Drawing Triennial at the Kunsthalle in Nuremberg. His works were shown at the Biennale of Venice in 1982, 1984 and 1986, in the São Paulo Biennials in Brazil and in Paris,[3][better source needed] in contemporary art museums in Japan and at the Bradford Biennial 7th British International Print (1982).

His works are included in the permanent collections of museums, including the Turin Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Turin, and the Museum national exhibition of China NAMOC in Beijing.[4]
