Silvertide was formed in January 2001 in northeast Philadelphia, a heavily working-class area that is to Philadelphia what Queens and Brooklyn are to New York. Originally, the band (which was called Vertigo) had four members: lead singer Walt Lafty, lead guitarist Nick Perri, rhythm guitarist Mark Melchiorre, and drummer Kevin Frank. When bassist Brian Weaver was added to the lineup, Silvertide was born.
The young rockers had been jamming and rehearsing in the Perri's basement for several months when they started performing live in Philly clubs, and listeners were shocked to hear a group of 21st century teenagers sounding like they had just stepped out of the '70s -- in fact, most of Silvertide's members were still in high school and weren't old enough to vote when the band was formed.

Silvertide is an American blues rock band. They come from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Silvertide was formed in January 2001 in Northeast Philadelphia. At first, Silvertide (which was originally called Vertigo) had four members: lead singer Walt Lafty, lead guitarist Nick Perri, rhythm guitarist Mark Melchiorre, and drummer Kevin Frank . The lineup was completed with the addition of bassist Brian Weaver. They considered themselves musical outsiders during high school due to the fact that they prefered the Rolling Stones and The Who over more contemporary music. They were playing in Philly rock clubs before they were out of high school. By the end of 2001 Silvertide had been creating a buzz on the Philadelphia Indie rock scene. History
Originally named Vertigo, Silvertide was formed in January 2001 in Northeast Philadelphia. At first, the band was signed by J Records, and they released their first EP American Excess in 2002. Their first full album, Show and Tell, was released in 2004 and produced by David Ivory.[2]
After completion of their debut album in 2003, Silvertide hit the road and toured straight until 2006, most notably in support of Van Halen, Velvet Revolver, and Mötley Crüe in the summer of 2004, and Alter Bridge in 2005. On March 4, 2005, the band performed their single "Blue Jeans" on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.[3]
In 2006, M. Night Shyamalan featured Silvertide in his film Lady in the Water. Silvertide was featured on the soundtrack with their covers of Bob Dylan's "Maggie's Farm" and "It Ain't Me, Babe".
