Céline Marie Claudette DionCC OQ (say-LEEN dee-ON,[a]French:[selinmaʁiklodɛtdjɔ̃]ⓘ;[b] born 30 March 1968)[3] is a Canadian singer. Referred to as the "Queen of Power Ballads",[4][5] Dion's powerful, technically skilled vocals and commercially successful works have had a significant impact on popular music.[6][7]
Born into a large family in Charlemagne, Quebec, Dion was discovered by her future manager and husband, René Angélil, and emerged as a teen star in her home country with a series of French-language albums during the 1980s. She gained international recognition by winning the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest, where she represented Switzerland with the song "Ne partez pas sans moi". Dion went on to release twelve English-language albums, including The Colour of My Love (1993), Falling into You (1996), Let's Talk About Love (1997), and All the Way... Céline Dion News: Video Shows Pop Star Singing at Grammys
Turns out there was more to Céline Dion’s surprise appearance at the 2024 Grammy Awards than what TV cameras captured. Dion, who currently isn’t performing due to her neurological disorder stiff person syndrome, showed off her vocals backstage in a viral Instagram video from the ceremony on February 4. In the clip, the 55-year-old is seen sharing riffs and runs with singer and songwriter Sonyae Elise.
According to People, Elise wasn’t the only one thrilled to see Dion. Oprah Winfrey, Stevie Wonder, and Best New Artist winner Victoria Monét all spent some time with the “My Heart Will Go On” singer.
Before her backstage jam session, Dion was revealed as a mystery presenter for the final award of the night, Album of the Year, and took the stage to a standing ovation before presenting the trophy to Taylor Swift. The two also shared an embrace backstage.

She is mostly known for the song "My Heart Will Go On", which was made for the film Titanic. This song won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Dion became famous internationally in 1988 after winning the Eurovision Song Contest.

[change | change source]She was born in the town of Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada. She is the youngest of 14 children. Her parents were television personality Thérèse Dion (1927–2020) and businessman Adhémar Dion (1923–2003).
Marriage and children
[change | change source]On December 30, 1994, Dion married her manager René Angélil. They have three sons: René-Charles Angélil (born on January 25, 2001), and twins Eddy Angélil and Nelson Angélil (born on October 23, 2010). René died on January 14, 2016 from cancer. Her older brother, Daniel, died from cancer two days later, on what would have been Angélil's 74th birthday.
