James Lafferty is an actor, director, writer and producer. Lafferty is most known for his work on the popular television series "One Tree Hill" as one of its lead characters during the show's successful nine-year (2003-2012) run on the CW.  Other television credits include a recurring role on NBC’s "Crisis" (2014) alongside Dermot Mulroney and WGN’s "Underground" (2016) starring Jurnee Smollett and Christopher Meloni.

In 2013, James starred in the hit feature film OCULUS, a horror film for Blumhouse Productions, which was reviewed as "one of the scariest American horror movies in years."  Lafferty would go on to act in three consecutive, but very different films, written and directed by the Nelms Brothers -- LOST ON PURPOSE (2013) with Jane Kaczmarek and C. James Martin Lafferty was born and raised in Hemet, California until he was 16 years old, which was about when he was signed to do the CW teen drama series, One Tree Hill. His parents, Angie and Jeff Lafferty who owns a local business in Hemet, have already been encouraging him and his brother, Stuart Lafferty to act as a hobby.

James attended Hemet High School and played basketball for the high school's team, Bulldogs. According to his high school coach, he could already tell that James had the passion for basketball. James Lafferty participated in many of the high school basketball matches, eventually earning him the MVP award.

At age ten, he received his first acting role in his high school's play. That was when James got his first taste as an actor. Not too long later, he managed to secure a role on the short lived television series, Emeril.

Lafferty was born in Hemet, California, to Angelica and Jeffrey Lafferty, who own a local construction company.[1] He has a younger brother, actor Stuart Lafferty.
