Sir Alex Ferguson autobiography: Jaap Stam to Roma? 45 factual inaccuracies lead to publishers offering one customer a refund
After eagle-eyed readers noticed errors in Sir Alex Ferguson's autobiography, one customer who complained has been offered a full refund from publishers Hodder and Stoughton.
45 factual inaccuracies were found in the 402-page book, including the age of Ryan Giggs when he made his debut, plus the year Ferguson had his pacemaker fitted.
My Autobiography was released last month and has since become the UK’s fastest-selling non-fiction book, selling 115,547 copies in its first week on sale. But can the tome now be classed as a work of fiction?

Jaap Stam's infamously acrimonious departure from Manchester United was not all it appeared according to the former central defender.
Stam was shipped out of Old Trafford after his controversial book 'Head to Head' suggested Sir Alex Ferguson had tapped him up without the permission of PSV.
It caused a huge furore at the time and the rock at the heart of United's defence was abruptly sold to Lazio in 2001.

'At the time they [United] used it,' Stam said on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast. 'It was hard from out of the blue to say 'okay we're going to sell Jaap' without any reason.

There’s a Dutch flavour to everything around Manchester United at the moment. Erik ten Hag’s been at the hot seat for a little over a month with Frenkie de Jong and Tyrell Malacia likely to join him and Donny van de Beek.
Old Trafford’s been home to many a great Dutchman, from the flying figures of Edwin van der Saar and Robin van Persie to the fierce like Jaap Stam and Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Busby Babe staff felt that it was only right that we celebrate some of the club’s greatest Dutch Reds by coming up with short essays on them.
The essays will be part of a series that also serves as a little game to see who ranks as the greatest Dutch Red of them all. We decided to take inspiration from The Ringer’s Shea Sarrano, who came up with his own quirky metrics to rank different seasons and players in his book Basketball (and Other Things): A Collection of Questions Asked, Answered, Illustrated and gave it our own little spin.
We’ll be using the following metrics to rate each Dutchman:
- Silverware
- Stats
- Transformative
- Longevity
- Charisma
